Whenever a Fighter levels up they roll a d12. Consult the table below.
- You gain 1d4 Hit Points.
- While Parrying, any melee attack against you triggers an immediate melee riposte attack.
- Increase critical range by 1, up to 3 times. (So a Nat 19-20 would be a critical)
- You may add your STR/DEX mod to melee/missile damage rolls
- You gain a Cleave attack, whenever you down a foe with a melee attack you may make another melee attack against an enemy within 10ft.
- You gain a wicked battle cry. Once per combat you may incite an immediate morale check against humans.
- Your unarmed attacks do 1d6 damage now. Increase die size each time this is rolled up to a d30.
- You gain 25 bonus XP for each finishing blow you preform.
- Add 1 to a physical ability score(STR, DEX, CON) of your choice. Scores cannot exceed 18.
- Your criticals now do triple damage.
- You are only surprised on a roll of 1.
- Choose a favored weapon. You gain +1 to Hit and damage with that weapon. Increase by 1 for each time rolled.
Expanding upon your number 6:
ReplyDelete1d4 battle cries:
1. Suffer No Witch! The fighter can forfeit their next round to disrupt spellcasting. The spellcaster must save against Magic or be unable to finish their spell. The spell slot is lost.
2. High-Pitched Shriek! Everybody in 30' must save against Paralyze or take 1 damage. Creatures with especially good hearing don't get a save. All glass breaks in a 30' radius.
3. Low-Pitched Growl! Triggers a Morale check in all natural animals and low Intelligence creatures.
4. By the blood of my ancestors! The fighter evokes the spirit of an ancestor. Attack bonus is doubled for 1d6 rounds. After this duration, save against Magic. If the save fails, the fighter is possessed by the ancestor for 24 hours. The ancestor probably doesn't speak modern languages and has a very different world view.
These are awesome! Thanks man!
DeleteThe shrieks and growls are included because I was listening to Gallhammer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6balaHGQg38 :D
DeleteWill we see a Thief level up as well? Hint hint :D
ReplyDeleteMaybe...
DeleteMaybe give them small special abilities, which are not "magical", but borderline supernatural. Like "sense vibrations" (able to feel if an invisible creature is around, if something big is coming in the distance, etc), "squeeze through small places" (much smaller than would be possible with their body size)?
DeleteYou have learned of a plant that when eaten makes your sweat especially oily. You can now slip into small places with ease. Must be nude.
DeleteOr something like that. Lol
By the way, do you know Arduin? It has extensive class-based tables of random abilities.
ReplyDeleteNo, I just googled it though. I'm gonna have to pick one up if I can, it looks pretty old. Lol

DeleteYou can check out this fan made clone/conversion. The tables are slightly simplified, but some fun stuff is still there.
Nice! I'll check it out.
